Gordon trained as a Clinical Psychologist at the University of Stellenbosch (South Africa) where he was awarded a Master of Arts (Clinical Psychology) in 1998. He holds professional registrations with the Australian Health Profession Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). Gordon is a Fellow of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) College of Clinical Psychology

 

Gordon has significant professional experience having worked in both the public and private sector, including Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS), Paediatric Tertiary Hospital settings (Princess Margaret Hospital & Perth Children’s Hospital) and Adult Mental Health (SANDF)

 

He has a particular interest in engaging in psychotherapy with people of all ages. Presenting issues include depression, anxiety, coping with acute and chronic medical illness and conditions, managing stress and negotiating relationship difficulties. Gordon also offers supervision, both clinical and reflective, to psychologists and other allied health, nursing and medical professionals. To find out more about supervision, click here.

Gordon Miles

The theoretical and practice models that Gordon uses include Psychodynamic, Systemic, Narrative  and Cognitive Behavioural approaches. He is also trained in the use of Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing  Therapy (EMDT).  Gordon works closely with other medical and allied health professionals (such as GPs, Social Workers, OT's and Psychiatrists) to develop care plans and outcomes that are maximum benefit to his patients.

 

Gordon’s Psychology interests outside of Clinical Psychology practice include Sport Psychology, research in Paediatric Psycho- Oncology and the neuro-developmental aspects of child and adolescent development. He is a member of the Children’s Oncology Group (COG) and the Australian & New Zealand Children’s Haematology & Oncology Group (ANZCHOG).
